Chemical Technician Award

Call for 2025 Chemical Technician Award Nominations

 

The Awards Committee of the Brazosport Section of the American Chemical Society is calling for nominations for the 2025 Brazosport Chemical Technician Award, which will be presented to a chemical operator / technician / technologist who has demonstrated an extremely high degree of professionalism.

ELIGIBILITY:

Nominees must live OR work in Brazoria County and must have worked for (at least) five years as a chemical technician (or in a related field) where primary job responsibilities include conducting experimentation or analyzing information to help solve chemical problems or discover new chemical knowledge. Nominees are not required to be an ACS member to be eligible for this award.

​The ACS defines a chemical operator / technician / technologist as a person whose training includes successful completion of a two-year post high school level chemistry curriculum leading to an Associate degree, the equivalent course work in a Baccalaureate program, or the equivalent knowledge gained by experience. The primary work of a chemical operator / technician / technologist is conducting experimentation and/or correlating information to help solve chemical problems and/or discover new chemical knowledge. This work is not confined to a traditional laboratory setting.

REQUIRED NOMINATION COMPONENTS:

  • At least one letter of recommendation from someone familiar with the candidate's work

  • The complete nomination form as a single pdf file

 

AWARD:

The award consists of one-year membership in the American Chemical Society and a plaque presented at the annual Brazosport ACS Awards Banquet.
