STEM Outreach Committee Named 2025 Outstanding Committee Award Recipient

On behalf of the Brazosport Section of the American Chemical Society, we are pleased to announce that after careful review by the awards selection committee, the STEM Outreach Committee has been named the recipient of the 2025 ACS Brazosport Outstanding Committee Award. This award recognizes the committee’s exceptional regional impact and sustained leadership in advancing STEM education across the Brazosport area and beyond. Through high-quality, safe, and engaging programming, the committee delivered STEM outreach events across Lake Jackson, Pearland, Sugar Land, Sweeny, and surrounding communities, achieving a 200% increase in outreach requests from schools, libraries, and museums. Their efforts engaged more than 700 students through hands-on demonstrations, including a major one-day school event reaching over 400 students.

The committee’s success reflects strong and sustained leadership and the dedication of its members, who have built trusted partnerships with educators and community institutions while inspiring curiosity and excitement for science among students—many of whom proudly proclaimed, “We want to be scientists!” The Brazosport Section would like to formally recognize the 2025 Outstanding Committee Award recipients: Kishori Deshpande (Chair), Poulami Dutta, Dipti Singh and Miranda Weed.
